As the number of customers with physical disabilities grew, those with developmental disabilities, while still increasing in total numbers, dropped from 95% of the total population served to 85%. Today Emerge serves individuals with developmental and physical disabilities who may also be struggling with mental illness, substance abuse, or other problems that are common in the population at large.
Due to the individualized services that Emerge has developed for its customers with disabilities, Emerge today is recognized as an organization that will accept and benefit individuals with the most severe disabilities and complex personal situations—individuals that few other organizations will accept. |

Emerge currently serves 304 individuals with disabilities through four major programs: (1) residential, (2) community supported living arrangements, (3) day, and (4) supported employment. Roughly, one-quarter to one-third of the 304 individuals with disabilities at Emerge participate in more than one of these programs. This participation breaks out to § 110 individuals in the residential program § 125 in community supported living arrangements § 90 in the day program § 112 in supported employment |

Emerge provides services to individuals with learning disabilities, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, epilepsy, Prader-Willi Syndrome, diabetes, personality disorders, behavioral disorders, psychiatric disorders and multiple health conditions. All Emerge customers are individuals with disabilities. Approximately 85% of Emerge customers have a developmental disability; the remaining 15% have other disabilities as their primary cause for seeking Emerge services.
